Performance Information
The value of investments, and any income from them, can go down as well as up and you may not get back the amount you originally invested.

Overseas markets
If you choose a fund which invests in overseas markets, any changes in exchange rates affect the value of any underlying overseas investments. This applies to the following funds: Asia Pacific Equity, European Discretionary, European Ethical, European Equity, European Small Cap, European Bond, Evergreen, Global Bond, Global Equity, Japan Equity, Pan European Select Opportunities and US Equity funds.
Small companies
Small companies tend to more risky than larger companies and their shares may not be as easy to trade. This applies to UK Small Cap and European Small Cap.
Fixed interest securities
- Fixed interest securities are particularly affected by trends in interest rates and inflation. If interest rates go up, the value of capital may fall. Inflation will decrease the real value of capital. The opposite applies in both these cases.
- Unlike the income from a single fixed interest security, the level of income (yield) from an OEIC fund is not fixed and may go up and down.
- If the income yield is higher than the redemption yield, there is the possibility that the capital will go down.
These risks apply to European Bond, Foundation Income, Global Bond, Monthly Income Bond, UK Corporate Bond and US Dollar Bond. Monthly Income may also have some exposure to fixed interest securities.
High yield bonds
High yield bonds (also known as sub-investment grade bonds or junk bonds) are potentially more risky as the companies are more likely not to be able to honour repayment on the bonds they issue. This applies to Global Bond and Monthly Income Bond.
Funds where charges are deducted from capital
Income from some funds is increased by taking charges from capital. Because of this, the growth potential of the capital value of the investment will be reduced. This applies to Equity High Income, Global Bond, Monthly Income and Monthly Income Bond.
Index correlation/ FT-SE tracking funds
It is not possible to match the performance of an Index exactly. This is because of charges and tracking error. This applies to Foundation Growth.
Emerging markets
Investment in emerging markets carries a higher risk than investing in mature markets. This is mainly because of the volatility of the markets and local custody and registration arrangements, which may be less developed than in more mature markets. This applies to Asia Pacific Equity.
Specialist portfolios
If a fund has a specialist investment objective this may increase the risk. This applies to Evergreen.

Information given by you will be controlled by Insight Investment Management (Global) Limited and Insight Investment Funds Management Limited ("we", "us" and "our"). We will treat all information given by you in confidence and in accordance with relevant Data Protection legislation. We will not disclose such information to any third parties including other members of the HBOS Group except:
(a) where required or permitted by law; or
(b) where your consent has been received.
By providing your information you consent to us using it in the following ways:
1. To provide you with the service(s) you requested.
2. For market research purposes and in order that we may keep you informed (by post, telephone, email, fax or other electronic means) of products and services offered by us and our selected third parties which may be of interest to you. The compensation that may be available depends on the classification of the fund you have invested in. UK funds
UK funds
Insight Investment Funds Management Limited and Insight Investment Management (Global) Limited are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. You may be entitled to compensation from the Scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Most types of investment business are covered for 100% of the first £30,000 and 90% of the next £20,000, so the maximum compensation is £48,000. Further information about compensation arrangements is available from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
