What we do

Since Insight Investment’s beginnings in Europe in 2002, we have strived to develop new ways of investing. Through the advocacy of our clients we have experienced year–over–year growth. Today, the Insight Group manages client assets totaling US$603 billion*; has over 670 staff globally and a growing global presence in the UK, Europe, North America, Japan and Asia.

Insight Investment’s heritage businesses have had a significant presence in North America since 1991. In 2013 currency risk management specialist Pareto Investment Management joined the Insight Group and more recently in 2015 US fixed income boutique Cutwater Asset Management was acquired by BNY Mellon. Today, these businesses operate as Insight Investment in North America.

What makes us different?

We are team-based, pride ourselves on our passion and entrepreneurial approach and reinforce this through an ownership culture which extends across the firm, creating true alignment between incentives and client outcomes. Our investment philosophy is built around maintaining a questioning attitude and by challenging conventional investment thinking to put clients with particularly sophisticated and complex needs in control of their investment strategy. We believe that there are two types of risk: that which can be assessed through statistical techniques, and uncertainty which is harder to measure and manage. It is Insight’s aim to achieve superior outcomes for clients by dealing with both risk and uncertainty by focusing on maximizing the resilience built into our clients’ investment portfolios.

Our unique philosophy has made the Insight Group a force in the development of liability risk management techniques designed to protect funding levels for pension funds over the last decade. In Europe, we believe we were among the first asset managers to bring institutional quality processes and transparency to absolute return and unconstrained investing.

We work with clients to identify key investment issues and seek to deliver highly customized investment solutions as a direct response. These strategies are dynamically managed and retain the flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of sophisticated clients and the evolution of markets through time. We believe that this approach has helped us to develop a real investment edge in areas where we have chosen to specialize: absolute return and unconstrained, fixed income, and solvency management and solutions.
