    Key facts about Insight

We have a clear mission and we're at the forefront of developing new ways of investing, providing access to innovative investment strategies, using contemporary robust risk management techniques. We aim to deliver consistent and repeatable performance by focusing only on those things we believe we can do well, including liability driven investment, fixed income, and absolute return and multi-asset.

We have won more than 150 major awards over the last 14 years with repeat wins at the Financial News Asset Management Awards, the Professional Pensions UK Pension Awards and the FT Pensions and Investment Provider Awards (FT PIPAs) among many others, spanning multiple categories.

In 2021 we have been named ESG Manager of the year, LDI Manager of the Year and Investment Manager of the Year at the Professional Pensions UK Pensions Awards; ESG/Impact Manager of the Year and Fixed Income Manager of the Year at the FT PIPAs, LDI Manager of the Year at the Pensions Age Awards and Fixed Income Manager of the Year at the Irish Pension Awards run by European Pensions magazine.

We are proud to be able to share some of our award successes with you here.

As a firm, we take responsible investment seriously. In our view, it is as an essential part of managing risk and deciding whether an investment is fair value. We were a founding signatory to the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI)in 2006 and have been improving the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues in our research processes for more than a decade. Where we identify material ESG risks, we also seek to engage to better understand the issues.

In 2022, Insight commissioned academic research from Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) which found that the application of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors to a European corporate bond reference portfolio did not impair its overall historic risk characteristics or performance over the last ten years. Insight wanted to add to the body of work on this subject having found little independent research into the effect of applying ESG factors in fixed income. For detail, see Bayes’ research paper and Insight’s summary report.

We forge partnerships with the institutions that we sponsor which deliver experiences to reinforce the advocacy of our staff, clients and consultants. Find out more about our sponsorships here.

We support a number of charities, our current global charity partner is Make-a-Wish.

Our investment teams enjoy the highest ratings from investment consultants.

Consultants are a key source of success for the business. They typically act as advisors to pension schemes, insurance companies, wealth platforms and other types of financial institutions. Insight continues to have very strong relationships with consultants and engagement continues to be very high, as evidenced by the Greenwich Associates UK Investment Consultant Research2. In the 2022 edition of this research, Insight continues to rank number one in both LDI segregated and LDI pooled investment and has now ranked first place for Overall LDI Quality for 12 consecutive years. In 2022, Insight was ranked in first place for Overall Fixed Income Quality and has been placed in the top decile every year since 2013.

What makes you proud to work here?
There’s a real sense of innovation – although Insight has existed for over 12 years it still feels like we’re at the start of the journey and we’re part of something that’s making significant changes to the industry.

What makes Insight a different place to work?
You can have exposure to as much of the business as you want to know about, for example, I can walk over to the ESG team, down to Legal and then catch up with Derivative Operations on the way back. Having access to this range of knowledge would be hard to replicate.

What makes you proud to work here? We are entrusted with the safe-keeping and stewarding of the results of people’s hard work over their lifetime. People and institutions put their trust in us to do the right thing and put their interests first. We are bringing new products and approaches to the US market which is very exciting.

What makes Insight a different place to work? Everyone is very accessible and accommodating. The smaller size of the offices allows interactions for people of all levels and departments of the company. In my experience, everyone is willing to answer questions and lend a hand when asked. No matter the level of the company you are currently at, the executives will check-in and make time for you if needed.

What makes you proud to work here? I am happy to work for a company that puts so much time and effort into building not only the business but the culture surrounding it. It is refreshing to work in an environment where collaboration is encouraged, and the company works as a team to get the job done.

What makes Insight a different place to work? There is a strong sense of ownership of work at Insight and being proud and recognized for the hard work you have accomplished. Since the US team is smaller it is nice to be directly related to upper management which gives me comfort in knowing I can bring any challenges that come my way forward and have their support when I need it.

What makes you proud to work here? Insight has advanced a lot since I started here on the Graduate Scheme in September 2019. The development of our capabilities in technology with the opening of the Manchester technology office and in ESG with the launch of Prime and the Responsible Horizons suite of funds amongst many other things shows a company that seldom stands still. It’s this drive to provide new solutions and tackle key issues in the industry that makes me proud to work at Insight.

What makes Insight a different place to work? From day one at Insight, I felt welcome. As part of the graduate intake, I was given the opportunity to talk to a lot of people and get exposure to all areas of the business. This proximity to the whole business aided my development and is something that is difficult to achieve for a business the size of Insight. It’s this sense of cohesion that I think makes Insight so unique.

What makes you proud to work here? Insight has an excellent reputation in the market, but what I value most about working here is the genuine culture of inclusion and continuous improvement. I am proud to be part of a company full of diverse, high performing employees where I also feel valued and supported as an individual.

What makes Insight a different place to work? What makes Insight unique for me is its position within the BNYM group. I enjoy the benefits and support that come with being part the global institution that is BNYM, but Insight’s relatively small size also lets me feel like my individual contribution has more of an impact on the business as a whole. The range of development opportunities available to employees is also above and beyond what I have experienced elsewhere. Learning and development courses on a wide range of topics are regularly available, which I can fit around my usual work in order to continuously develop and grow in my career.

What makes you proud to work here? Our storied history continues to evolve, including the significant growth that has contributed to Insight becoming one of the industry’s leading global investment managers and is further enhanced by being part of the largest custodial bank in the world, The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation. The vast global reach and expertise we share with the world’s most sophisticated investors ensures we remain at the forefront of delivering desired outcomes for our clients and enhancing the lives of millions of beneficiaries in a way that sets us apart from our peers. Being part of a team that has an acute focus on genuinely improving our clients’ lives and society more broadly, gives me immense satisfaction in my career.

What makes Insight a different place to work? The people. Having the opportunity over the years to work in and around our teams in New York, Boston, Denver, and London it’s easy to recognize that no matter who you interact with and where, everyone universally exudes a high degree of knowledge and professionalism. The collaborative nature of the firm and its ability to remain steadfast in the delivery of high-quality investment solutions supports the long-term partnerships and advocacy with clients and wouldn’t be possible without the diverse group of individuals that make up our global organization. Notably, the global team is also focused on “doing well by doing good” and having a positive impact on the communities in which they work.

What makes you proud to work here? I’m really proud of our vision. There is dedication to achieving the best possible outcome for our clients and not just from an investment perspective. Having joined as a contractor first, I got to see that before I even knew what our vision was. Whatever situation I am in, I can always say to myself, ‘do the right thing’ and I know the company will have my back.

What makes Insight a different place to work? Insight has a small company feel even though we are part of a very large organization. And for an investment manager with our AUM , we would normally manage several different asset classes but we only manage one and I think that helps us focus and give clarity to the overall mission of the firm.
